Now it wasn’t fully autnomous, it went through 7 in-game review phases where each had about a dozen issues i noticed, but it did… a lot better than I would have thought.

I do not think this is a realistic way to make interiors of all types, I think this particular location of the Light House was just fairly well suited to it because its a relatively simple shape, and the most involved parts are arguably significantly better suited for code to do (namely, the spiral stair case would be a pain in the ass to do by hand, less so using procedural tools, and more sensibly by someone with code)

It made this entirely by writing python code that generated geometry and textures (some are from Rockstar) and then converted to drawables through a harness it made for CodeWalker.

Do I think it’ll replace MLO makers? No. Do I think this is something you should use AI for? No. But i was curious and… it succeeded in the span of 24 hours.

Candidly, this is kinda scary but at the same time not because of all the issues that i had to point out to it during its process. But I am also not one of those asshats that go “I made this” cause, I didn’t. I babysat it and reviewed its work. From what i’ve seen, AI aint making an elaborate police station interior or court house or anything like that any time soon, so don’t ask, and don’t buy a AI subscription thinking you will be able to do that.

I do not really know how to feel about this, its scary, but also I still firmly believe that human touches will continue to lead in creative spaces like this, this is just the one extremely specific case where an AI writing code could actually succeed pretty well. This did not use generative image or generative video AI, that is not to say that LLM’s are without ethical problems though.

I am deliberately not naming the tools cause i dont wanna come off as a shill.
